    Kingsley Fairbridge, as a young boy (1896) looked out from this spot over the valley through which the Mutare river flowed and imagined it populated and developed agriculturally (it was then sparsely populated). His vision was developed further while studying at Oxford (1908), the Fairbridge Society relocating orphans from the UK for productive lives in the new worlds, mainly Australia and Canada.
